In the shadows of the Alaskan rain forest, Brad Michaels finds himself involved in an organization dedicated to keeping a little-known creature, the Rhunken, secret and humanity safe.
But terror is unleashed when the organization
is taken over and corrupted by greed and ambition. Called on by a fiery redheaded biologist named Erica to deal with the deaths of a research party, together Brad and Erica face off against not only the rogue Rhunken and their purposely bred mutated offspring, but also the new leadership—which has no problem eliminating anything or anyone that doesn’t conform to their plans.
Mark was recalled to active duty in 2007-08 to serve in Iraq with a Navy EOD unit. Because of the success of the surge, his days went from extremely occupied to almost sheer boredom. So he took on a new challenge and wrote the first draft of Rhunken Chronicles: Tongass while at COB Speicher, Iraq

Mark was raised in the deserts of southern California, and as with most kids of that time, spent most of his time outdoors where his love of firearms and all things wild started.
He married young, and joined the Navy. The Navy trained him in electronics, showed him a lot of the world, and allowed him to improve his marksmanship skills where he was trained as a small arms marksmanship instructor. He also went on to shoot for the Navy shooting team, winning multiple Pacific Fleet and All-Navy shooting titles. After six years active duty Mark transferred to the Navy Reserves and moved his young family to Alaska.
Alaska brought a new level of the outdoors for Mark, one he embraced with a passion. He hunted, fished, boated and explored the wilds of the great state, becoming one of the noted outdoorsmen in the area. He became a rifle, pistol and hunter education instructor, and continued shooting competitively for the Naval Reserves. It was during this time that, the idea of writing a book took root, and a rough outline was scribbled into a notebook.
Mark was recalled to active duty service shortly after 9/11 and again in 2007, 2008 to serve in Iraq. While he had always been a reader, he became more so, as books were the perfect companion when entertainment was scarce. After the surge, free time became the norm and seeking a new challenge, Mark asked his wife to send him the notebook with the book outline and wrote the first draft of Rhunken Chronicales: Tongass.
Mark retired from the military as a Chief Electronics Technician, and still lives in Juneau Alaska. He continues to shoot competitively, but mostly now in Cowboy action.
